NWT Veterinarian and Horseman Honoured


In a outstanding act of kindness, an Alberta girl accomplished a 15-hour journey from southern Alberta to Yellowknife, NWT to make sure horses attended the celebration of lifetime of native horseman and veterinarian Dr. Tom Pisz, who handed away on June 11 on the age of 68.

The girl is Sienna Hart Kellar, who was liable for one other related selfless act final August when she rallied a workforce of volunteers to evacuate each horse and pony out of North Nation Stables when wildfires tore by way of the Northwest Territories.

Dr. Pisz and his accomplice Patricia Dartnell, who owned and operated North Nation Stables and Nice Slave Animal Hospital, have been residents of Yellowknife for over 30 years. Hart Kellar introduced two horses, Keevah and Penny, who offered ‘pony rides’ for teenagers in attendance who had not had entry to horses for a 12 months.



Not one of the horses that have been evacuated final summer time have returned to Yellowknife, they’ve all settled into new properties in Alberta; some, just like the 29-year-old Norman, are too previous to make the journey again.
