Meet Patch the Police Pony


The New Orleans Police Division (NOPD) bought a brand new helper for its neighborhood watch – a miniature horse named Patch. The NOPD posted to X (previously Twitter): It’s official – our beloved Patch the mini horse is a full-fledged NOPD Officer!!! Patch was sworn in at present by Mayor LaToya Cantrell. The 15-year-old bought his personal badge and a proclamation from the New Orleans Metropolis Council. Geaux Patch Geaux!!!

In accordance with WGNO information  in Louisiana, Patch is three toes tall and has just one eye as a consequence of a start defect. The mini was initially drafted as an emotional assist animal again in January, “to be a pleasant, calming presence within the barn and for the officers, and ties the group and mounted division unit,” says Jessica Dietz, president of COPS 8, a non-profit group that helps the NOPD and helped facilitate the arrival of Patch.

He’s the primary mini to hitch the unit since Hurricane Katrina and will provide assist to each different horses that serve within the NOPD mounted unit, and for cops.

Patch has been an immediate smash hit with locals and cops alike since his arrival, participating in parades within the French Quarter of the historic metropolis. You may observe Patch’s adventures on his Instagram.
