Blue Jays catcher Danny Jansen out 2 weeks with wrist fracture


Toronto Blue Jays catcher Danny Jansen shall be sidelined a minimum of two weeks with a small fracture in his proper wrist.

Supervisor John Schneider introduced Friday that Jansen, 28, sustained a damaged pisiform bone when he was hit by a pitch on Wednesday.

Toronto opens the common season in two weeks, visiting the Tampa Bay Rays for a four-game sequence from March 28-31.

Jansen hit .228 with a profession highs in residence runs (17) and RBIs (53) in 86 video games in 2023, his sixth season with the Blue Jays. He’s a lifetime .224 hitter with 65 homers and 196 RBIs in 409 video games.

Jansen’s absence probably means extra motion for main backstop Alejandro Kirk, a 2022 All-Star who batted .250 with eight homers and 43 RBIs in 123 video games final season.
