To meet the entry requirements for the 1913 Michelin Cup, which mandated the use of an all-British aircraft, the Austro-Daimler engine was replaced with a British-built 100 hp Green E.6 engine. With this modification, the Type X went on to win the Michelin Cup on 9 November 1913, covering a distance of over 300 miles and showcasing the potential for long-distance commercial air travel.
